I'm Bahati. And this is my story.
Imagine a girl from Fort Portal who decided that AI should work for everyone — especially the girls the world keeps forgetting. That girl grew up, built things, broke barriers, and is very much still at it. Come on in — I promise it gets good.
"I build AI for the same reason I tell stories — because both have the power to change what people believe is possible for themselves."
Okay so — I grew up in Fort Portal, Uganda, and honestly? The city built me. I watched it transform at warp speed right in front of my eyes. New apps, new connectivity, new possibilities. But also? New gaps. New people left behind. New ways that technology was moving fast and forgetting to look back. I noticed. And I couldn't unnotice it.
So I decided to do something about it. I dove headfirst into AI engineering — not because it was trendy (though, fair, it kind of is) — but because I genuinely believe algorithms can either help liberate people or quietly keep holding them back. I wanted to be on the liberation side. I landed my first major grant, started building, started speaking, started connecting dots between the technical world and the humans it was supposed to be serving.
Today? I get to show up on global stages, shape AI ethics conversations, and — my absolute favorite part — help open doors for young women in tech who deserve to be in every room I've ever walked into. I'm Bahati Brenda Kizito. I build AI with heart, and I am just getting started.

My Non-Negotiables
I Don't Do Shady Algorithms
Every line of code is a decision about who matters. I refuse to build systems that quietly sideline people — so I push for transparency and accountability even when it's inconvenient. Especially when it's inconvenient.
My People Come First
I grew up watching what happens when tech ignores the communities it's supposedly serving. I build from the ground up — by listening first, by putting local knowledge at the center, and by making sure the people the tech touches have a seat at the table.
Curiosity Is My Superpower
I genuinely love learning things. AI ethics, community dynamics, new frameworks, why that one algorithm keeps misbehaving — I'm here for all of it. The day I stop being curious is the day I stop being useful. That day is not today.
